The OpenAQ Team implements the day-to-day work of the organization, striving to meet the needs of those who contribute to, use and benefit from the OpenAQ Platform. Based in the U.S., we work remotely.

Board

The OpenAQ Governing Board stewards the organization, focusing on high-level strategy, oversight and accountability. Members serve as ambassadors and advocates for OpenAQ. The Executive Director serves as CEO of the Governing Board.

Amrit Sharma

Secretary

Amrit Sharma is a Developer Advocate in Toronto at ecobee, a Canadian smart home company that invented the world’s first smart thermostat. He was Software Engineer at Thomson Reuters, is a published journalist, and created the Emoji Air Pollution Map and Smokey, the friendly air quality chatbot.

Erin Robinson

Treasurer

Erin is the CEO and co-founder of Metadata Game Changers which champions good data management practices working with academic and government clients. She was the Executive Director for the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) where she cultivated the Air Quality Cluster to promote standard data practices across organizations.

Matt Whitney

Member at large

Matt Whitney is Head of Data at the Clean Air Fund, a foundation supporting action on air pollution globally. He is responsible for strategy, partnerships, and programme delivery for the Fund’s technical portfolio. He has a background in climate science and was previously at the UK National Physical Laboratory.

Nathan Pavlovic

Member at large

Nathan is Lead Geospatial Data Scientist at Sonoma Technology, where his teams advance scientific knowledge and provide actionable information on air quality. With a background in Geography and GIS, he specializes in remote sensing, spatial analysis, and machine learning applications in air quality, fire and smoke, and health exposure.

Pallavi Pant, PhD

Chair

Pallavi is Head of Global Health at the Health Effects Institute where she supports research, capacity strengthening and science communication in regions with high air pollution. She serves on the editorial boards of several journals and advises Chintan and Sensing Local in India.
